2018.7.18 Case Study

Leading Foreign CAM Software Company, DP Technology

DP Technology is a leading company in CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) software headquartered in California, USA.
In addition to the headquarters, DP Technology is developing in 5 locations in Firenze (Italy), Berlin (Germany), Tomsk (Russia) and Grenoble (France).

Every year, they invest close to 20% of their annual sales into research and development, striving hard to continuously improve their technology.

DP Technology is committed to in-house product development and does not expand their product line-up nor add functions through the usual M&A that is in the IT industry.
For that reason, DP Technology maintains a consistent product concept and provides software with excellence in operability, always occupying the position as the top runner in the industry.

This time, we kindly spoke to Mr. Hisashi Kojima, Assistant Technical Manager at DP Technology Japan, about their recent exhibition.

Which organization at your company carries out exhibitions?

"At DP Technology, we don’t have a dedicated marcom staff members, so us engineers are responsible for taking charge of each and every event and executing them. However, we are novices in regards to promotion such as events, so we need a partner who can propose for us regarding the kinds of booth that are good to make and the kinds of operations that are good to have".

How did your working relationship with Bigbeat first start?

"Our first encounter with Bigbeat was in 2017, when they submitted a exhibition proposal for us for Mechatronics Technology Japan (MECT), the biggest machine tool exhibition in Japan. We were thinking of changing the booth design image and the person in charge of that exhibition had highly regarded Bigbeat during his time employed at his previous company, and asked Bigbeat to submit a proposal for us.

The design they proposed at that time was great, and we decided to change our promotions partner agency to Bigbeat. After that, we requested Bigbeat to support us at the DMS
(Design Engineering & Manufacturing Solutions) Expo, the IT solution exhibition for manufacturing industries, that was held in Nagoya in February 2018".

Thereafter, Mr. Kojima, you were in charge of the DMS Expo that was held in Tokyo in June, right? Up until this point, DP Technology has requested Bigbeat to manage the past 3 exhibitions. Could you tell us the reason why you have chosen to repeatedly work with Bigbeat?

"The reason for that is because the event producers have very strong support and response capabilities. As I’ve mentioned earlier, the engineers at DP Technology take turns managing the exhibitions. The Bigbeat producers are meticulous with even the smallest details and help to lead and support us exhibition novices and we are very grateful for that.
Bigbeat also diligently continues work from the past exhibition and has never had any leakage of information, so we can rest assured and are able to fully rely on them.
Changes in exhibition contents and operations at the events are inevitable. However, in regards to that, Bigbeat is able to adapt to any given situation and is very flexible in order to effectively support us, and they also make sure to improve on whatever issue was discovered at the last event".

From here on out, does DP Technology have any expectations from Bigbeat?

"The next exhibition will be the JIMTOF (Japan International Machine Tool Fair) that will be held in autumn. We are planning a new announcement there, so I am thinking to revamp the entire booth image. I am expecting another spectacular design. Though, unfortunately, I won’t be in charge of the next event... (haha)"
